Sub: Minutes of the Meeting of ‘H’ Ward Science Exhibition Committee 2012 -2013 held on the 23rd of October 2012 at Apostolic Carmel Convent, Hill Rd Bandra (W) Mumbai-50.

A meeting of Deputy Education Inspector (‘H’ Ward – West Zone), Conveners, Heads of Schools was held at Apostolic Carmel Convent, Hill Rd Bandra (W) Mumbai-50. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Education Inspector Shri Dilip Govind; A.D.E.I Smt. Ranjana Rao, Ward Convener Smt. Prema Kotian, Head Mistress Sister Pearl and Co-Conveners. The following decisions were taken:

1) VENUE: The Venue  for the ‘H’ Ward Science Exhibition 2012 – 2013 is Apostolic Carmel Convent, Hill Road Bandra (W) Mumbai-400050. Contact No: 26428028

2) SCHEDULE:    Date:  12th, 13th & 14th December 2012.

                            Time: 8.00am to 4.30pm

3) MAIN THEME: Science & Society

    Sub Themes:      1. Industry.

                                2. Natural Resources and their conservation.

                                3. Transport & Communication.

                                4. Information & Education Technology.

                                5. Community Health & Environment.

                                6. Mathematical Modelling.

4) PARTICIPATION: The schools are expected to participate in the exhibition as per the following norm:

A) One exhibit from the Secondary Section (V to X) – (Two Students & One Guide Teacher)

B) One exhibit from the Higher Secondary Section (XI and XII)  (Two Students & One Guide Teacher)

C) One exhibit – Population Education (by Teachers only)

D) One exhibit – Continuing Education (1 Teacher and 5 Students)

E) Teacher’s Teaching Aid – Prepared by Teachers  – Junior Group (Maths / Science)(D.Ed Tr.)

F) Teacher’s Teaching Aid – Prepared by Teachers – Senior Group (Maths / Science)(B. Ed Tr.)

G) Laboratory Assistant’s Scientific Project / tools /equipment / model – Prepared by Laboratory Assistant / Laboratory Attendant.

5) ENTRY FORMS: Entry forms of the exhibits in duplicate must be submitted to the venue school on 30th November 2012 between 9.00 am to 2.00 pm. Entries will not be accepted after 30th November 2012.

6) Exhibits: The exhibits must be submitted to the Venue School on 11th December 2012 between 08.00am to 12.00 noon.

Note: Science Exhibition Contribution must be paid by the 30th of November 2012 to the Venue School Apostolic Carmel Convent, Hill Road Bandra (W) Mumbai-400050, between 08.00am to 12.00 noon.

* Evaluation of the Science Project will be done on the following guidelines:

1)      Scientific thought / principle                                                                                       25 marks

2)      Technical skill, workmanship and craftsmanship                                                         20 marks

3)      Utility / Educational value for layman / children / people                                            10 marks

4)      Economy (low cost)                                                                                                     15 marks

5)      Presentation                                                                                                                15 marks

6)      Originality and innovativeness                                                                                     15 marks

         Total                                                                                                                             100 MArks

Attention: Previous years exhibits of the science exhibition or the exhibit made for the inspire award should not be repeated for the science exhibition.

1.  Elocution Competition: (All Mediums)

3.  Quiz Competition: Students (All Medium)

Venue: St. Andrews High School, Bandra West, Mumbai - 400050.

Date & Time: Wednesday 5th December 2012 at sharp 10.00am.

* Only Two student per school in each category.

: RULES :

1. The First part of the quiz is written competition where the participants have to answer 20 objective questions in 30 minutes. (2 participants of each school will attempt 1 question paper jointly). The top 3 or 4 groups from the written round will be selected for the oral round.

2. These groups will participate in the oral quiz in 4 rounds.

·         1st Round: Non passing – Each group has to answer 2 questions of 10 marks each. The time duration for each question is 30 seconds.

·         2nd Round: It is the same as the 1st Round except if a group fails to answer, the question will be passed on to the other groups with the time duration and the marks being reduced. (1st attempt 10 marks, thereafter subsequent passes 6 marks, 4 marks and 2 marks respectively).

·         3rd Round: Visual Round (non passing) – Each group has to answer two questions of 10 marks each with the help of the visual display.

·         4th Round: Rapid fire round: Each group will be asked a maximum of 10 questions in 30 seconds. (Each question carries 1 mark)

4.Teachers Quiz:

Venue: Anjuman Islam High School, Bandra West, Mumbai - 400050.

Date & Time: Wednesday 5th December 2012 at 10.00am.

RULES:

1.The First part of the quiz is written competition where the participants have to answer 20 objective questions in 30 minutes. (2 participants of each school will attempt 1 question paper jointly). The top 3 or 4 groups from the written round will be selected for the oral round.

5. Science Play:

Venue: Springfield High School, Rizvi Complex, Carter Road, Bandra West, Mumbai - 400050.

Date & Time:  Tuesday 4th December 2012 at 10.00 am

Duration: 15 minutes.

Participation: 8 students and 2 teachers (as guides).

Topic:   * Bio Diversity

             * Water

             * Energy

             *Biography of a Scientist

             *International year of Mathematics

Scheme of Marking:

Presentation of Drama                                                                                  50 marks

Science content in the drama                                                                        30 marks

Effectiveness of the drama                                                                            20 marks

Total                                                                                                            100 marks

6. Science Club and Nature Club:

The schools willing to participate, must send their entries to Apostolic Carmel Convent High School, Bandra West, Mumbai - 400050, on or before Thursday 8th of November 2012. The date of inspection will be intimidated after receiving the entries.

‘H’ Ward Science Magazine

Every school must send at least one article based on the main theme / sub themes of the science exhibition. The article must be of around 300 words written by the student/s under the guidance of their Science Teacher. For articles in all languages please submit the matter in a CD and a printed Copy on A4 size paper. The articles must be sent to St. Stanislaus High School, Hill Road, Bandra West, Mumbai – 400050 by Thursday 8th November, between 9.00 am to 1.00 pm.

‘H’ Ward Gallery

Every school should prepare two vertical charts displaying the various activities of their respective school and submit it to the venue school (Apostolic Carmel Convent, Hill Road Bandra (W) Mumbai-400050.) on Tuesday 11th December 2012 along with the other Exhibits.

Note: Rotating Trophies should be sent to Apostolic Carmel Convent, Hill Road Bandra (W) Mumbai-400050 on or before the 30th of November 2012.
