INTRODUCTION
The objective of “Sahashaleya Upakram” is to provide the children a platform to express their talent through various competition that will help them to attain well rounded personality.
With reference to the circular from the Deputy Director of Education, Greater Mumbai following activities will be conducted during 2013-2014 from 20th September,2013 to 30th September, 2013 at the “H” ward level.

GENERAL RULES :
Competition for the students will be held under 2 groups
G1 – Std V to VII
G2 – Std VIII to X
G3 – Std XI to XII
G4 - Teachers

Top 3 performance will be selected at the ward level competitions.

Top 2 performance at the ward level competition will be selected for the district level.
-
Competition at ward level will be held only if there are at least 5 participants for each group and each activity and venue school should inform participants accordingly.
-
Venue school will not deviate from the given rules under any circumstances and judges should be told about disqualification clauses in advance as given here under.

Entry form should reach the venue school at least 5 days in advance during the office hours i.e 11.am to 4.00 p.m
-
The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
-
Only one entry is permitted for each activity from each school.
-
2 or 3 members judges committee to be formed for evaluation from the following :

GROUP SINGING
RULES:
-
Maximum time limit is 5 minutes

Number of students should be between 5 to 10

Only non filmy, patriotic songs will be permitted .
-
Principal must certify that the teachers accompanying the Sugam sangeet and playing the supporting instrument (Harmonium, Tabala etc) are the staff members of the school.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Competitions comprise of following major sections :-

String instruments (Tantu Vadya)
Sitar,Violin, Guitar, Veen,, Santur (Casio not allowed)

Percussion instrument (Tal Vadya)
Tabala (“Tal” and types of Tal) Dholak, Mrudanga

Wind instrument (Sur Vadya)
Harmonium, Flute, Mouth Organ
RULES :-

Students should bring their own instrument.

Time allotted to competition is limited to 7 minutes or else it will be disqualified.

One student can select only one instrument.
-
1 (one) Supporting instrument will be allowed.
-
Only National Songs/Ragas will be allowed to be played.

3. LEZIM
Each school will be considered one unit and each school can send only one entry.
Types : “ Dakhhani” practical to be presented.

Number of participants should be upto 40.

Time limit is 7 minutes including entry and exit.

Dress Code : For Girls : White salwar kameez/skirt .
For Boys : White half pant and baniyan.

Time limit and uniform to be strictly observed.

Use of whistles, drum, band and recorded music will not be allowed and whistle should not be used while changing the exercise. Only instrument like Halgi, Tasha, Dhol, Janza, Gungroo and Shahnai can be used.

4. BAND
RULES :

Type of Band : Welcome , Guard of honor, Retreat (Swagat, Manvandana, Nirgaman).

The display will be in the order mentioned above .

National songs will be played on flute.(No National Anthem)

Number of students should be 15 to 20.
-
Time limit will be 10 minutes.
-
Dress Code will be as specific dress selected by the school.
-
Only big drum, small drum, bigule, janza, flute, band stick (maiyacha gol).

FOLK DANCE (ONLY FOR G1 AND G2)

Group should consist maximum of 17 dancers.

Live music not allowed, only recorded tapes are allowed.

No film songs will be allowed.

Decent folk songs and costumes will be appreciated.

Please note that weightage is given to the selection of theme and its cultural value.

Only one entry per school in each group.

Students can participate only in the medium of instruction.

Languages : English, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Gujarati.

No separate prize for each languages. From all languages only two participants will be selected for district level competition.

An episode or an event of a character from Indian History (costume compulsory). Teachers will have 3 prizes in elocution irrespective of languages. As such judges should cover all language groups.
IMPORTANT
-
The venue school will mail the details of the Judges like name, qualification, institutions etc at least 2 days before the event to kotianprema@yahoo.com .

Venue schools will submit the photographs and results in duplicate to Purushottam High School, Bandra (E), Mumbai as soon as competition is over or email the same to kotianprema@yahoo.com.

PLEASE SELECT ONLY 3 PRIZES FOR EACH COMPETITION (1ST, 2ND AND 3RD). TWO WINNERS FOR THE SAME POSITION IS NOT ALLOWED.

PLEASE NOTE THAT, THE PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BE PRESENT FOR COMPETITION IN CIVIL DRESS EXCEPT FOR LEZIM COMPETITION. SCHOOL UNIFORM IS NOT ALLOWED FOR OTHER COMPETITIONS.

VENUE SCHOOL SHOULD COLLECT THE COMPETITION BANNER FROM PURUSHOTTAM HIGH SCHOOL, BANDRA (E).
